In one of the paintings on the subject, there is a piece of meat hanging in the middle of the painting that would otherwise feature landscape of the construction site of the dam. The scene was actually taking from a small stall selling noodles. The cook was cutting slices of port directly from the hanging piece of meat into the frying pan, and then into the bowl of noodles. While eating my noodles, I was thinking that the Authority was likewise cutting into the flesh of common people to serve its purposes. —Extract from Liu Xiaodong, Redflag Collection, Map Book Publishers, Hong Kong ,2006 Back |
